Scouting the Mavericks: Senior goaltender John Faulkner starts Sunday afternoon, having now started each of UNO’s last four games. He is on a three-game winning streak, having beat Michigan Tech twice last weekend and was in net for the Mavericks’ 3-2 win over Minnesota Duluth on Saturday…UNO was heavily outshot Saturday, losing the shot race 32-25 on the night and 18-8 in the game’s second period…UNO has struggled mightily on the power play so far this season, but now has three power play goals – two on Saturday – in its last two games…Form (Last five results): T-L-W-W-W.

Scouting the Bulldogs: UMD head coach Scott Sandelin served as an assistant under UNO head coach Dean Blais at North Dakota. Sandelin graduated from UND in 1986…The Bulldogs are ranked No. 20 in this week’s USCHO.com poll…Bulldog defenseman Derik Johnson is a scratch tonight after getting ejected in Saturday’s second period for a major facemasking penalty…Both of UMD’s goals in its 3-2 loss Saturday came on the power play. UMD is the only team in the WCHA that has scored more than half of its goals thus far this season while playing with a man advantage…Freshman goaltender Matt McNeely starts again on Sunday.
